Is Your Wife Ugly? What Husbands Should Do if She's Not Attractive Anymore

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall…

There is one question that men don’t think of, and every man needs to ask.

When you look at your wife what do you see? Is she different in your eyes from the bride that you married? Is she maturing with grace elegance, and dignity, or does she look like she’s been ridden hard and put away wet?

We all age, grow old, and eventually stand before our Maker, but does your bride reflect the countenance of a woman who is loved well?

Or is your wife ugly? Has the woman who once intoxicated you with her beauty somehow become ugly? Let me go on record. If that is true, then that’s on you. 

How you see your bride is important. How others see her is, too. She is a reflection of your obedience to God and a testament to you loving her well (or not).

1 Corinthians 11:7 is proof of this: “For a man...is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man.”

Her countenance is to your glory or shame.

The Nine H-Bombs of a Wife Turned Ugly

Doug Weiss, author of Clean, lists nine symptoms displayed by women who lived with an addict for a husband. I believe these are major contributors to a once beautiful woman becoming ugly.

1. 82% Hapless Wife.
   She is depressed and unhappy.

2. 82% Hindered Wife.
   She has low energy or seems fatigued.

3. 78% Haggard Wife.
   She is unable to sleep or oversleeps regularly.

4. 78% Hopeless Wife.
   She appears lost and hopeless.

5. 74% Heavy Wife.
   She regularly overeats and is gluttonous.

6. 71% Hurried Wife.
   She is restless, anxious, and stressed out.

7. 69% Hampered Wife.
   She lacks concentration, focus, and the ability to decide.

8. 62% Homebody Wife.
   She has diminished interest in sex, life, and leisure activities.

9. 33% Homicidal Wife.
   She is in a dark or suicidal place.

The Question

Has my wife become ugly? Is her countenance run-down and haggard?

If your answer is YES, her ugliness is on you! What it is about you as her husband that made her that way?
