Jim Ramos

PRESIDENT AND FOUNDER OF MEN IN THE ARENA

Jim Ramos' passionate proclamation of God's word, relational humor, and epic storytelling skills will keep you riveted in your seat. Jim is a highly sought after men’s event speaker, author, and internationally known podcaster.

In 2012 Jim and his wife Shanna launched The Great Hunt for God and its mission to never cease building an army of men who are becoming the best version of themselves through Christ, and changing their world, because when a man gets it—everyone wins. In 2017 he launched the Man Card podcast that exploded in their first year to reach every state in the USA, nearly three-dozen countries, and 59 regions around the world (we still don’t know what that means). Subscribe to the Men in the Arena Podcast from all devices. Join men from around the world on the Men in the Arena closed Facebook forum for men, and one of our IVT’s (International Virtual Teams) equipping men to step up to their best version!

Jim has written nine books, including the popular Field Guide: A Bathroom Book for Men, The Man Card: 5 Characteristics Separating Men from Boys, The five-volume Man Card Series small group curriculum for men, and Playbooks 1 & 2 with 90 team meetings for men.

Jim lives in McMinnville, Oregon, with his beautiful wife Shanna. They have three adult sons and the cutest granddaughter you’ve ever seen. Jim loves the outdoors (especially hunting with sons James, Darby, and Colton), doing anything with Shanna, and listen to men share their story over a dark roasted Americano.

Gary McCusker

Pastor - Parker Evangelical Presbyterian

Gary was on Youth for Christ/Campus Life staff when he was Jim Ramos’ freshman basketball coach in 1980. Gary, Debi and their family moved to Germany as missionaries serving military students and their families in 1984. They moved to Colorado in 1993 to study under Larry Crabb while Gary attained his Biblical Counseling Degree at CCU. He has been on staff at Parker Evangelical Presbyterian Church (PEPC) since 1994 as the Student Ministries Pastor, and Family Life Pastor and where he now oversees Pastoral Care. Gary has been married to Debi, the love of his life, for 43 years. They have three adult married children, Casey, Cori and Colin, with three precious granddaughters. Debi still works for YFC/USA and is on the Senior Leadership Team as the VP of Operations. For the past fifteen years Gary has coached baseball at Ponderosa High School.
He enjoys traveling, most sports and still actively plays softball, basketball and golf. A couple of his other hobbies are spending time in his salsa garden and anything that involves hanging out with his family. One of his favorite scripture verses that God has shown to be true in his life is Proverbs 3:5,6 “Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Gary’s a passionate follower of Jesus who fervently believes that when a man genuinely encounters Christ, his marriage, family, work place, church and community are transformed.

Mike Goins

Retired, Former Vice President for Finance at George Fox University

Mike had a forty year career as CFO in Christian higher education at four schools: Whitworth University, University of the Pacific, West Virginia Wesleyan College, and George Fox University. He currently resides in McMinnville, Oregon, with his wife, AJ. They are a blended family with four married children and 11 grandchildren. He volunteers as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) for foster kids among other volunteer activities. In his spare time he enjoys bicycling, golfing, and snow skiing.

“Having been involved with the Promise Keepers movement in the 1990’s, I was drawn to the Great Hunt for God when we heard Jim explain his vision of the new ministry at our church. I was well aware of the problem with men. I joined a second generation Great Hunt team, and after going through the two year study with 10 other men, I went on to co-lead a third generation team for the past several years. I have appreciated the opportunity to serve on the Board, having seen the change in men’s lives as they commit to study and accountability through Great Hunt teams. It has been exciting to see the growth of the ministry with Virtual Teams now meeting on the internet, the Man Card Podcasts, and the Men in The Arena closed Facebook page. Who knows where the Lord will lead in the future?”

Dr. Pat George

Retired, George Chiropractic Clinic, Inc.

Patrick is the former owner/doctor of George Chiropractic Clinic, Inc., which opened in 1985 in McMinnville, Oregon, and operated for 32 years until his retirement in 2017, at which time the practice was sold.
He continues to reside in McMinnville with Becky, his wife of 15 years, and as a blended family, they have four children, Jennifer, Jessica, Matthew, and Zachary.
Though retired, Patrick remains engaged in the community, serving on various boards and committees, including Coast Hills Community Church, The McMinnville area Chamber of Commerce, and the local chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. He is passionate about pursuing God, outdoor activities such as hiking, whitewater rafting, hunting big game and fly fishing, as well as spending as much time with his children as their schedule allows.

“It is an honor and a privilege to be part of the Great Hunt for God board, serving alongside Godly men who are passionate about moving this ministry forward, giving men the tools they need to become the men that God has created them to be. Lives are being impacted on a daily basis, and I have witnessed this personally, having co-led a Great Hunt for God team. I am excited for the future of this great ministry, and I am grateful and humbled by this opportunity to serve.”

“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. Do everything in love.” 1 Corinthians 16:13-14
God gave men the awesome privilege of leading the family. (taken from The Climb, by Jim Ramos, pg. 124)
