5 Health Rules to Change Your Body This Year

We have allowed a secret sin to somehow become acceptable in the Church. That sin is gluttony, manifested through obesity. As a man who struggles with my weight, I believe I can speak to this issue.

“Are you fat-shaming me?” No. But I am asking you to take responsibility for your sin, repent, and enter the struggle for victory and freedom. It isn’t a metabolic problem. It isn’t a genetic problem. It is a gluttony problem.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 reminds us, “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price: therefore, glorify God in your body.”

We must honor God with our bodies for three reasons.

  1. To steward the body God gave us to manage through life.

  2. As believers, we have given our bodies for His purpose when we receive Jesus as our Savior.

  3. Our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit.

Fitness Phrases You’ll Never Forget

This year, Shanna and I are focusing our resources on our health. In recent reading, several health phrases caught my eye and I want to share them with you.

I’m not going to explain each in this blog post. For a detailed explanation, listen to this week’s episode here.

  1. Sugar is poison. Eat anti-inflammatory foods.

  2. Sitting is the new smoking. Stand up for those key crunchers like me.

  3. Sleep is underrated. Sleep 7-8 hours daily.

  4. Suffering is an emotion. Exercise more days than you don’t.

  5. Sabbath is a cultural resistance. Rest one full, 24-hour day, every week.
